Women’s Championship Final – A Battle in the Cold
The Women’s Championship Final was held today under cold and windy conditions at Tanunda Pines Golf Club. While the chilly temperatures certainly tested players and spectators alike, the wind came as something of a blessing after yesterday’s weather, which would have made play nearly impossible.
Despite the challenging conditions, the spirit and determination of our women competitors shone through.
A huge congratulations to Lesley Montfort, who claimed the win in A Grade Championship, defeating Leanne Bruggemann in a well-fought match, finishing 4 and 2. Both players showed great composure and skill throughout the round.
In B Grade, Aileen Myatt was awarded the win by default after her opponent was unfortunately forced to forfeit. While not the way anyone wishes to claim a title, Aileen’s consistency and commitment throughout the competition deserve recognition.
A special thank you goes to all the women who took part in this year’s Championship, and to the hardy supporters who followed the action despite the chill. Your enthusiasm and support are what make days like this so memorable.
